Referred to as ‘a medicine cabinet in a bottle’, tea tree oil is a staple ingredient in different products.

The melaleuca plant from which tea tree oil is extracted was grown for its healing properties all the way back in aboriginal times, when indigenous Australians would use it to treat coughs, colds, and skin conditions.

That tree is native to Australia where it has been used by Aboriginal Australians for many years before 1920 when it began to be commercialized.
However, don’t confuse the tea tree with the tea plant that is used to make digestible teas. Tea tree essential oil should never be ingested.
