Turmeric Essential oil has been used in Ayurvedic and Unani systems of medicine for over four thousand years, and it quickly expanded throughout Asia and Africa, where it is best known for its anti-inflammatory properties. In 1280, Marco Polo discovered it and carried it to Europe, where it was esteemed for its medical properties.

Turmeric is a powerful anti-inflammatory that can help with swelling all over the body and is also good for the skin. It’s crucial to keep in mind, too, that turmeric is a staining oil, so apply it carefully.

The plant is native to India and Indonesia, where it is widely cultivated as well as throughout the Indian Ocean islands. Turmeric made its way to Western civilisation via old Asian trade networks.

Turmeric’s usefulness stems from the plant’s colored rhizomes. Because their orange hue stains quickly, it’s been used as a dye.

In the Middle Ages, it was known as Indian saffron because of its color. Cosmetics and culinary items, as well as cloth and paper products, have all been dyed with the turmeric dye.
